ClaraKousah.com

Clara’s site - mediumClara Kousah is a singer-songwriter from Ely, in Cambridgeshire, and an old school friend. I designed and built the latest version of ClaraKousah.com - not something I normally do, but interesting for some of the techniques used:

  • sIFR - Scalable Inman Flash Replacement, a way of dynamically replacing headlines with Flash-based text. This allows greater diversity of typography in headlines without needing to resort to images with text - which give the opportunity to create good-looking headlines “on the fly”. Ideal for content managed sites, and now being used on this site.
  • MySpace parsing - using output from MySpace blogs and events allows Clara to effectively content manage several pages of her site by simply updating her MySpace page.
  • Flash MP3 player - using Flash and ActionScript it’s easy to build an MP3 player which can be updated by Clara. All she needs to do is change an XML file and upload an MP3 - the player does the rest and displays track names and times. Easy to skin for other projects.
  • MySpace profile editing - using techniques found on the web, I updated Clara’s MySpace profile to match the look of her site.
