About me
I am an experienced web project manager and writer. Following a degree in marine biology, during which time I was both a student journalist (writing features for Swansea University’s newspaper, The Waterfront) and stand-up comedian, I moved into the pharmaceutical industry.
Nine months as a technical author helped develop skills taking complex technical information and presenting it to a diverse audience. Following this, I spent over two years as a writer and analyst for a pharmaceutical marketing company, working on intranets, writing, pharmaceutical and medical device marketing campaigns, market segmentation and patient interviews. This work relates closely to information architecture work on websites; interviewing non-technical people about a subject in order to identify needs.
After leaving the pharmaceutical industry, I worked for the East of England Development Agency, with sole responsibility for electronic communications strategy and implementation for a regional organisation. Responsible for agency management, procurement, site structuring, copy writing and editing, integrated marketing campaigns, e-mail marketing, and long term strategy, I gained a wide range of experience with both short and long term web issues. I also trained users in HTML, web writing, and a variety of bespoke and out of the box content management systems, and have built sites using Dreamweaver and RedDot CMS.
I started freelancing in 2006 and have worked for a range of clients, both direct and through other agencies, providing technical, strategic and editorial support to both private and public sectors.
